Blinkers On stakes winner, Steph Being Steph, ran her heart out in the G2 Las Virgenes but ended up 3rd after a powerful performance by Dream Tree, the Baffert trainee who is now the Kentucky Oaks favorite. This was Steph Being Steph first start going two turns and she got tired, shortening strides down the stretch. After discussing the direction we wanted to go with our talented filly the decision has been made to cut back in distance. We feel 7 furlongs is her sweet spot, a tough distance for a lot of sprinters. She will now be pointed to the 7 furlong G3 Beaumont at Keenland on 4/8. We really want that graded stakes win for her future broodmare value.
Blinkers On horse racing partnership added to the stable after privately purchasing the Florida based 3 year old filly First Dudette. First Dudette has a 1st and 2 2nd's in 3 starts. She crushed MSW foes then ran a huge Thoro Graph number finishing 2nd in a first condition allowance race in her next start. After the purchase she was shipped to Santa Anita and is now trained by Blinkers On's conditioner Brian Koriner. She will make her first start in a few weeks for the new connections, we have high hope for this filly!
Gee Street will go to post on 2/17 at Golden Gate Fields as she tries for that elusive Maiden Score. She will be going a mile on the main track in a Maiden 20K race. Angels N Devildogs has been transferred to trainer John Martin at Golden Gate and may make her next start on 2/24 in a Maiden 25K race going 6 furlongs on the main track
Our three new Cal-bred yearlings continue to train forwardly at Legacy Ranch and will be sent to trainer Brian Koriner in early March. We hope to have these youngsters ready for Santa Anita in June/July. The Cal-bred program is fantastic with the Maiden Bonus and Golden State stakes races!
