Salute to Summer will make her first start at Los Alamitos on Saturday in a Maiden Special Weight sprint going 5 1/2 furlongs. Our long striding daughter of Colonel John will most likely enjoy more real estate down the road but based on the way she has been training we feel she has a big shot, even at the abbreviated distance. This is the 4th race on the card with a 3:30 post. William Antongeorgi will be in the irons coming out of the 5 hole. Good luck Summer! Humming Beethoven is slated to run the following day at Golden Gate. This race is a 25K claiming race going 1 1/16th on the grass. Humming Beethoven has won her last two but this race came up pretty salty for the level so there is a chance that we will pass on this race and bring her back in October when they return to Golden Gate.
In other racing news... Undefeated and 3 time stakes winner Red Outlaw has a couple of options for his next start. He could run in the 100K California Flag Handicap on 10/18 at Santa Anita. This race is going 6 1/2 on the downhill turf course, the same course he won his first stake. Our other option is the Gll, 200K Twilight Derby going 1 1/8th on the turf on 10/31. Red Outlaw just won the 1 mile El Cajon Stake so we think he can get the 1 1/8th... Island Freedom is also being pointed to a race at Los Alamitos. This 5 1/2 furlong claimer will be run on 9/19 and he should be very tough at this level. Joe Talamo has the mount on our handsome son of Unbridled's Song. True Visionary has resumed galloping after being gelded and will breeze this weekend at Santa Anita. We hope the change will have him a little more focused on his job when it comes to race day. Our 2 year old filly, Kiss at Midnight, is up to 3 furlongs in her works at San Luis Rey for trainer Peter Miller. She is a pretty mover and has done everything we have asked her for. Goose Bumps and Off the Deep End are getting a little R&R at the farm. Finally, Blinkers On will be attending the Barretts October yearling sale on 10/7. We hope to find another 3 or 4 Cal-bred's to add to the stable. The Cal-bred program is fantastic!
