After 15 jockeys tested positive for COVID-19 Del Mar hits the reset button for a resumption of racing on 7/24. Del Mar, like other tracks across the country, is restricting it's riding colony to in-state jockeys as a safety measure. In addition Del Mar is racing without fans and owners as a precaution and owners are only able to watch morning workouts. I think as large as the racetrack is it could safely allow owners to attend when their horses are running, tough to pay the bills to put on the show and not be able to watch your horse compete in person!
In other racing news the Blinkers On Horse Racing Partnership will be sending out 4 runners in the next few weeks...Our newest addition to the stable, Miss Ever Ready, will kick things off on 8/8 in a MSW race for Cal-bred 2 year old fillies going one mile on the turf. Miss Ever Ready shows she wants more distance and by More Than Ready out of a Pulpit mare she should love the weeds! Count Alexei will also be going long on the turf the following day in a MSW race for Cal-bred's 3 and up. We think his pedigree is also well suited for the long game. He lost by a head sprinting on the grass in his debut when he got caught in the last jump. Grinningeartoear is targeting a sprint on the grass in an allowance race on 8/14. Then on 8/22 Unchain Her Heart will go to post in a 1st condition allowance race for Cal-bred fillies and mares. She is coming off a lengthy layoff but conditioner Brian Koriner excels at having the ready to fire after time off. Rose Dunn has resumed training and should be ready to go in about 6 weeks. Finally, A Man's Man and Traffic Stopper are enjoying their time off at beautiful King Fisher Farm in Santa Ynez,
